1. What have you learnt from completing this task?

During this assignment we decided to take different roles towards creating a successful piece. I decided to take a strong hold on the editing because I have previously worked with the cameras and wanted to try something different. I quickly realised that editing is a long and technical process, and in order to get shots exactly right, patience is needed in order to do so. I found editing really fun and I hope to take a stronger lead in the final coursework project when it comes to the editing process.

 

2. What will you aim to do differently, or use in your coursework piece?

Something I will definitley be wary of when it comes to our coursework piece is the lighting. Watching previous years coursework I realised that lighting was key in making a video engaging and visually stunning which is why that will be my main focus for ourcoursework.

 

3. Are you pleased with the footage of the edit?

I am very pleased because it came out the way I wanted it to due to the lighting and the clarity of the editing. It allowed me to feel a sense of relief and excitement for when we begin our next project because the prelim came out the way I wanted it to. So overall i was very pleased with the editing of the footage.

 

4. How do you think your prelim experience will impact on your approach to your final coursework project?

I think that it will impact our approach to the final coursework in a good way because I feel as though patience is key in order to get the shots to be as perfect as possible. I think that in order to create a successful piece we need to work as a team which we proved we are capable of doing through the preliminary task. 

 

5. How did you manage the task between your group members?

Well I personally wanted to have a strong hold on the editing because I never used to do the editing when it came to it, so i thought that doing something different would be exciting and a new challenge for me. Filming wise Yusupha took a strong hold on that because he wanted to try directing for once rather thantaking a step back. Hany was also in charge of editing, as well as finding the cast for our prelim.

 

6. What technology did you use and why?

We used a canon dslr camera to film, a tripod and our phones so that it was easier for the lead singer to lip sing. We also used iMovie to edit our piece which turned out really great and was overall very successful. 

 

7. What factors did you have to take into account in your prelim?

We had to take in the fact that our cast wouldn't be available at certain times so we tried to work as well as we possibly could around that.
